"Heterotopia" invites artists to explore a former hospital in New York, a site that embodies Michel Foucault's concept of heterotopia—spaces where history, memory, and transformation coexist. Once a place of isolation and healing, this abandoned site now stands as a surreal and forgotten landscape. Its blend of decay and resilience offers a powerful environment for artists to explore the layered experiences of space, time, and identity, making it an ideal setting for creative reinterpretation. A Space Gallery will provide transportation to the abandoned place and necessary equipment, including flashlights, gloves, first aid kits, and masks. The program includes a five-day residency at A Space Gallery (24-hour access), followed by an exhibition (October 31 – November 10, 2024). Note: Artists may bring previous works if they fit the theme.
