ArtLab seeks artists whose work addresses science or nature, for a residency at the University of Virginia’s mountaintop field station. Artists live and work at Mountain Lake Biological Station, a rustic but comfortable setting surrounded by nature, artifacts, collections, scientific activity. During the ArtLab program 60-80 scientists, artists, and students call Mountain Lake Biological Station home. AIR's give a short presentations on their work, and are asked to participate in the public Open House day. Collaboration is an option but not required. There are no other participant requirements or expectations. Artist-in-Residence applications are accepted from professional artists not currently seeking a degree.
