MFA Art Practice at the School of Visual Arts invites emerging and mid-career artists and writers working in all disciplines to apply for the Art Practice Artist-in-Residence program. One artist will be selected to be the Artist-in-Residence for the duration of the Art Practice program’s summer semester, which runs from June 16 - August 1, 2025. The Artist-in-Residence will receive a studio, access to the facilities,a $5000 honorarium, and an additional $500 materials stipend. They are expected to engage with the SVA Art Practice community, participate in weekly group critiques, and develop a project with first-year MFA candidates in the program that will culminate in a public presentation (exhibition, screening, performance, book launch, etc.) during Open Studios at the close of the Summer. There is also an opportunity to give a public lecture. Please note that this is a workspace only residency. We are unable to provide housing. We are committed to building a culturally and artistically diverse community and encourage applications from artists working in all media, including visual arts, poetry, fiction, and playwriting, and representing all identities. Qualified applicants will have an MFA or equivalent. Graduates of the MFA Art Practice program are ineligible for this opportunity. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor visas.
