Justin Solomon is a Louisiana based visual artist whose works merge abstract concepts with themes like black expression & identity, outer space, mythology, science fiction, and fantasy to create a visual narrative that challenges perceptions and supercharges the imagination. Working primarily with mixed-media, I am passionate about creating artwork from little drops of randomness to every day sources of inspiration. Through my art, I strive to inspire dialogue, whether it’s internally within one’s heart, mind, and soul or externally amongst masses. Art has been an integral part of my life since childhood. From teaching myself basic skills at a young to taking my first art class in 4th grade I discovered my gift and abilities. Not too long after graduating high school I would soon attend and graduate from Delta College of Arts & Technology where I obtained an associate’s degree in graphic design. Honing these newly acquired skills would allow me to see and create with new eyes allowing me to develop a diverse skill set that I incorporate into my artwork. My creative process is driven by experimentation. I find inspiration in everything from movies/tv shows, music. anime, comic books, religion, and cultures from around the world. By combining acrylics, ink, and markers or using them individually, I aim to create visually captivating pieces. Throughout my artistic journey, I've had the privilege of exhibiting my work in galleries in both my home state and across the country, including the "You Aren’t Alone Project" and most recently, the "WILD" Summer Contemporary Juried Exhibition (which I placed third in) both in Baton Rouge, LA and abroad in both of The Holy Art Gallery’s “Unusual” in London, England and “Art on Loop Milan” in Milan, Italy. These experiences have shaped my artistic growth and continue to motivate me to push the boundaries of my creativity, while also allowing me to be a part of important conversations outside of art such as mental health. Artist Statement

My desire is to create art that inspires dialogue, whether it’s internally within one’s heart, mind, and soul or externally amongst masses. As an artist, I attempt to merge abstract concepts with themes like black expression & identity, outer space, mythology, science fiction, and fantasy to create a visual narrative that challenges perceptions and supercharges the imagination. Drawing inspiration from diverse and limitless sources like anime, music, comic books, movies, religion, and cultures from around the world, my art becomes a reflection of the dynamic interplay between imagination and reality. In my artistic process, I utilize various mediums. Acrylic paints enable me to bring vibrancy and texture to my paintings, while pencils and ink allow for detailed and artistic drawings that capture the basis of what it means to create art itself. Embracing technology, I also use programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Procreate to push the boundaries of my creativity and combine traditional techniques with modern digital artistry. I believe what sets my art apart from others is how I attempt to capture the human factor of emotion prominently in my work; be it a clever smirk, huge smile or intense eyes. My artwork constantly evolves with each new work, unlocking new pathways of ingenuity, all while finding ways to use art as a catalyst for igniting a spark in each and every viewer.
